Every year the platforms move the ground under us, and the teams that read the release notes early ship calmly while the rest scramble.

This year the theme is extensibility replacing edits. Shopify keeps closing off direct script and theme hacks and opening supported extension points in their place. It is more discipline up front and far less breakage later.

WordPress is moving too, with a stricter plugin review posture and a steady push toward block-native features. An extension that fought the block editor last year should stop fighting it this year.

None of this is a reason to panic. It is a reason to build on the supported path, which is what we were arguing for anyway.
